Applicant FAQs

Thank you for your interest in employment with the College of Western Idaho! The first step in the hiring process is to complete an online application. The below FAQs will assist you in your application process.

Q. Can I mail a paper resume to Human Resources or to the hiring department?

Please do not mail a paper resume; we only accept applications online and only for open positions. If you do not have access to a computer, your local Department of Labor office will allow you to utilize a computer at their office.

Please note, you must complete a separate application for each position for which you would like to apply.

Q. To whom should I address my cover letter?

You may address your cover letter to the Hiring Committee.

Q. What are the preferred Web browsers for completing the application?

Preferred Web browsers are:

    • Mozilla Firefox (Latest Version)
    • Google Chrome (Latest Version)
    • Apple Safari (Latest Version on Mac)
    • Internet Explorer (9, 10 (Win7), 11, not compatibility mode)

Please note, the application is not compatible with mobile devices.

Q. Is there a time limit for completing the application?

Yes; the application must be completed in 45 minutes or it will not submit successfully. You will not receive a warning as you near the end of the 45 limit time limit.

Q. Can I save the application and complete it later?

No; you will not be able to save the application and return to it later. Please make sure you have all of your information ready before you begin the application process.

Q. Whom do I contact if I am having trouble completing my application?

Q. How do I know if my application has been received?

You will receive an email confirmation once your application has been successfully submitted. If you do not receive an email, check your "Junk/Spam" folder, then email HR@cwidaho.cc to verify receipt of your application.

Q. How do I know if the position is still open and accepting applications?

If the position is on our Web site, it is still open and accepting applications. We remove job postings from our Web site when the position is no longer accepting applications.

Q. What can I expect after I submit an application?

After your resume has been submitted, the hiring committee will review your application and documents.

If selected for an interview, you will be contacted by the hiring manager. You may be asked to participate in a telephone interview before a face-to-face interview. Please be prepared to provide the hiring manager with your professional references at this point.

If you are not selected for an interview, you will receive an email from Human Resources indicating that we have decided not to move forward with your application.

Q. Can I contact the hiring manager to inquire about my application or to ask questions about the position?

We ask that you contact Human Resources with any quesitons about your application or a position. Human Resources can be contacted at 208.562.3287 or HR@cwidaho.cc.

Q. How long does the hiring process take?

Our goal at CWI is to select the candidate that is the best fit for CWI. Because of this, the hiring and selection process can take time. Every search is unique, so we are unable to provide applicants with a set timeline for filling a position.

Adjunct Faculty Applicants:

You may not be contacted regarding an adjunct faculty role, as these needs fluctuate based on enrollment. We continue to cultivate a candidate pool and pull from that candidate pool as needed.

At this time, we are only able to employ those who reside in, or will relocate to, the State of Idaho.

Background Screening:

The College of Western Idaho requires a background screening to be completed on most new employees and returning employees who have been separated from the College for longer than 12 months. If you are selected as the final candidate, you will receive an offer of employment contingent on the results of your background screening.
